everything is for my mother and sisters who continue to believe in me

Series.
each series has a CD that i listen to during it's entire creation. i spend hours alone in the studio and working at home. 'strategies of war' and 'trust' were created to 'warpaint' exquisite corpse. it's like having a best friend at the end who you know really well.

Resin.
scientific properties that have a mind of their own. it's the best of both worlds - calculation and unpredictability. it demands full concentration, caution, and control. i like the danger and risk involved. resin can capture moments and kind of preserve them in a forever state. i like to make my work look aged through many layers, capturing time. different things are constantly evolving from each layer. sanding each layer until it looks from another time and then capturing that moment in time with resin.

Play.
my work is a form of communication. it is like talking to someone without dialogue, until they ask. my work is playful on all sides. i usually use the front, sides, and back of the canvas. there is always something hidden. i see whimsical tilts in sometimes serious topics.

Pushing.
no rules, no guidelines, no boundaries, free thought. i try to have structure within the non- existing structure. organized chaos. i work with concepts and hyperextend them without laws and rules - no governing of the mind. ideas that are not institutionalized but rather free form with control, driven by intuition.

Imperfection.
i like the beauty in imperfection. i like to capture that moment with resin - freezing it in this deteriorating state. i am a perfectionist and to create imperfection is the work. making flaws and then accepting when there is imperfection within the imperfection. my art is a reflection of the world, ever changing and imperfect.

Lucky Rapp is a self taught artist although her mother was pregnant with her while getting her degree in art and interior design, which could reflect the principle permeable possibilities of osmosis.

Lucky graduated from SDSU with a degree in sports medicine and athletic training. Born in the Bay Area, Lucky has traveled extensively throughout Europe, India, and Asia and has lived in Germany and Paris.

In Mannheim she became successful as a designer of window concepts for the large multi-house department store in that town. Through this time she also worked on other projects, one of which was running an art gallery out of her 19th century apartment. She selected local artists, presenting one artist at a time and created an appropriate concept for each show. These concepts extended from the invitations to complete transformations of the gallery interior. These events and shows were widely enjoyed and often provoked interesting debate.

She returned to the Bay Area in 2001, where she lives and creates in San Francisco's Mission District.
